Family Welfare Foundation (FWF) has demonstrated measurable impact through its integrated programs that promote women and girls’ human rights, strengthen access to healthcare services, and support socio-economic empowerment across Tanzania. Through partnerships with government institutions, development partners and community networks, the organization has implemented multi-year initiatives that address gender inequality, health challenges, and barriers affecting adolescent girls and young women.

The following highlights summarize key achievements from FWF programs in recent years

  • Program Reach and Beneficiaries

    Over 15,000 adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) reached through digital engagement platforms with information on sexual and reproductive health and rights and the risks associated with unsafe abortion.

    More than 3,000 adolescent girls and 1,000 women from affected households participated in community learning sessions on reproductive health rights and prevention of unsafe abortion.

    3,000 adolescent girls and young women empowered through leadership and mentoring initiatives that strengthened youth leadership, entrepreneurship, and community advocacy.

  • Strengthening Health and Protection Systems

    5,000 women affected by tuberculosis reached with education on TB prevention, treatment adherence, gender-based violence awareness, and referral pathways for psychosocial support.

    1,134 presumptive TB cases

    1,134 presumptive TB cases identified and referred for diagnosis and treatment through community-based health outreach and case management interventions.

    3,327 women with TB supported

    3,327 women with TB supported with transport assistance and psychosocial support to improve treatment adherence and continuity of care.

  • Strengthening Community-Based Health Networks

    3,327 women with TB supported with transport assistance and psychosocial support to improve treatment adherence and continuity of care.

    More than 1,500 household health sessions conducted, improving awareness on TB, gender-based violence prevention, and sexual and reproductive health rights.

  • Policy Advocacy and National Dialogue

    1,856 stakeholders engaged through national conferences and advocacy platforms addressing girls’ education rights, sexual and reproductive health rights, and protection of pregnant schoolgirls and adolescent mothers.

  • Geographic Reach
